SVP to Take Over Operations of Abarth Racing UK

[28/08/2025] – Sports Vehicle Performance (SVP) is proud to announce that it will be taking over the running of Abarth Racing UK, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the brand’s UK motorsport activities.

Founded in 2012 by Chief Engineer Andy Dawson of Dawson Auto Developments Ltd, Abarth Racing UK has built a reputation as the go-to importer and installer of competition parts for modern race and rally Abarths. The business grew out of Andy’s involvement with the UK Trofeo race series and was forged on his long-standing connection with Italian motorsport.

Andy’s pedigree speaks for itself: from winning Group 1 on the Welsh International Rally in 1974 in an Alfa Romeo GTV, to taming the legendary Lancia Stratos on gravel and taking victory on the 1976 BRC Mintex International Rally. With more than 50 years’ experience designing, engineering, and developing motorsport vehicles, Andy has played a pivotal role in hundreds of professional victories worldwide.

As Andy begins to step back from his day-to-day role, he will continue to work in the background, ensuring his expertise remains at the heart of Abarth Racing UK.

This handover has a very personal significance for SVP. Our relationship with Andy Dawson goes back decades — not only has he been a lifelong friend and mentor, but also a professional partner. In the early years of SVP’s journey, our founder worked under Andy, learning first-hand the principles of motorsport engineering and precision that continue to shape everything we do today. That shared history makes this transition a natural step, and one that honours Andy’s legacy while carrying it forward into the future.

From this point forward, SVP will oversee all Abarth Racing UK workshop operations, including the fitting of the renowned Abarth Racing Big Turbo Kits and performance upgrades, developed by the very best in the business. Customers can expect the same dedication to engineering excellence and motorsport pedigree, delivered with SVP’s proven commitment to quality, precision, and performance.
